GENERAL INFORMATION
OF MATHS QUIZ 2018
1. Maths Quiz 2018 will be carried out in two
categories: -
i)
Senior Category for form four and
form five students
ii)
Junior Category for form two and
form three students.
Each school must send a school team (consisting of 3
participants) for the Senior Category and
another school team (consisting of 3 participants) for the Junior Category.
2. Starting 2017, the Maths Quiz allows Private teams to
form among those who are interested in taking part in Senior or Junior
Categories. Private teams must also
consist of three students, not necessarily from the same school but must be in
the same age category.
3. For each category (Junior or Senior),
the mathematical quiz competition will be divided into three sessions: -
i) First
Session - each participant (from the school team and private) will have to
answer 40 multiple choice questions in 60 minutes.
ii) Second Session - each team (school and private) will have to
answer 6 questions subjectively within 45 minutes.
iii)
Third Session - 10 best school
teams from the second session will have to answer one question that will be determined
on the day.
4. All
questions are provided in English ONLY.
5. Entry
fee for EACH TEAM (for each category) is amounted to RM 50.00.
6.
Participation form that submitted without proof of payment of the entry
fee will not be entertained.
7.
Participation is limited to the first 100 teams registered with payment.
Please check the status and availability of
participation by referring to the list of participants in http://mathsquiz2018.blogspot.my . Registration after 6 April
2018 will NOT be entertained.
8.
Withdrawal or exchange of participants in a team without a good reason
will NOT to be entertained and thus the entry fee is NOT refundable. Absence
or withdrawal of one of the participants will result in disqualification of the
respective team automatically.
9.
Participants must register at the registration counter and handed in
the Parent Permission Form during the registration not later than 8.45am. The
organizer reserves the right to disqualify teams that register after 8.45am or
register WITHOUT Parent Permission Form.
10. The
organizer reserves the right to disqualify a participant if the participant and
his group appear to copy or cheat; try to copy or try to cheat during the
competition or bring in any materials that is not permitted.
11. Scoring for Maths Quiz are as follows:
-
i) Objective
Question in the first session - 2 points awarded for each correct answer and 1
point deducted for each wrong answer. No marks deducted / provided for
unanswered questions.
ii) Subjective
Question in the second session - Marking scheme of every question covers
working steps as well as the correct answers and is fixed by the
organizers.
iii) Subjective Question in the third session
- Marking scheme covers working steps as well as the correct answers.
12. Awards for each category: -
i) Best of 5 Individual among
Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Awards - Given to the best 5
participants from SMK. Individual Awards are based on objective question marks
that carry out in the first session. In case of equal score, scoring will be based
on the last 10 objective questions. Certificates will be given to all the 5
participants.
ii) Best
of 5 Team among Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Awards (only for school team)- Given to the best 5 teams from SMK. Team Awards will be
based on the total scores of the first session and the second session. Certificates
will be given to all 5 teams.
iii) Best
of 5 Individual among Sekolah Menengah Jenis Kebangsaan (SMJK) Awards - Given to the
best 5 participants from SMJK. Individual Awards are based on objective question
marks that carry out in the first session. In case of equal score, scoring will
be based on the last 10 objective questions. Certificates will be given to
all the 5 participants.
iv) Best
of 5 Team among Sekolah Menengah Jenis Kebangsaan (SMJK) Awards (only for school
team) - Given to the best 5 teams from SMJK. Team Awards will be based on the
total scores of the first session and the second session. Certificates will be
given to all 5 teams.
v) Overall Individual Awards - Given to
the best 5 participants. Overall Individual Awards are based on objective question
marks that carry out in the first session. In case of equal score, scoring will
be based on the last 10 objective questions. Prizes will be given to the
champion, the first runner-up and the third place, while certificates will be
given to all the 5 participants.
vi) Overall Team Awards - Given to the best
5 teams . Overall Team Awards will be based on the total scores of the first session
and the second session. Prizes will be given to the champion, the first
runner-up and the third place, while certificates will be given to all 5 teams.
13. The Best School Award (only included school
team with the present of Junior and Senior team on the event day) is assessed
based on the total score of the first session, the second session and the
third session for both the senior and junior categories. The winning school
will be able to bring back a large trophy to be exhibited in the school for
the year.
14. The participants are required to wear neat
school uniform, bring their own stationery, especially 2B pencils, scientific
calculator with no programming and jacket.
15. Light lunch will be provided to each participant and their
teacher. Participants are required to bring their own drinking water.
16. The
organizer reserves the right to modify or update any rules and regulations of
Maths Quiz as described above from time to time.
MAKLUMAT AM KUIZ
MATEMATIK 2018
1. Kuiz Matematik 2018 akan dijalankan dalam
dua kategori: -
i)
Kategori Senior untuk pelajar
Tingkatan Empat dan Lima
ii)
Kategori Junior untuk pelajar
Tingkatan Dua dan Tiga.
Setiap sekolah mesti menghantar satu pasukan sekolah (terdiri
daripada 3peserta) untuk kategori Senior dan
satu pasukan sekolah (terdiri daripada 3 peserta) untuk kategori Junior.
2. Mulai tahun 2017, Kuiz Matematik membenarkan
pasukan persendirian yang berminat untuk mengambil bahagian dalam Kategori
Senior atau Kategori Junior. Pasukan persendirian mesti terdiri daripada 3 orang pelajar, tidak semestinya dari
sekolah yang sama tetapi mesti dalam kategori umur yang sama.
3. Untuk setiap kategori (sama ada junior
atau senior), perjalanan pertandingan kuiz matematik akan dibahagikan kepada
tiga sesi: -
i)
Sesi Pertama – Setiap peserta
(dari pasukan sekolah dan persendirian) perlu menjawab 40 soalan objektif dalam
masa 60 minit.
ii)
Sesi Kedua – Setiap pasukan
(sekolah dan persendirian) perlu menjawab 6 soalan subjektif dalam masa 45
minit.
iii) Sesi Ketiga – 10 pasukan sekolah yang
terbaik daripada pusingan kedua perlu menjawab satu soalan yang akan ditentu
pada hari tersebut.
4. Semua soalan
akan disediakan dalam Bahasa Inggeris SAHAJA.
5. Yuran
penyertaan SETIAP PASUKAN (bagi setiap kategori) adalah sebanyak RM
50.00.
6. Borang
Penyertaan Peserta yang dihantar tanpa bukti pembayaran yuran penyertaan tidak
akan dilayan.
7. Penyertaan
adalah terhad kepada 100 pasukan pertama yang mendaftar dengan pembayaran. Sila
semak status dan tempat kosong yang tertinggal dengan merujuk kepada senarai
peserta di http://mathsquiz2018.blogspot.my . Pendaftaran selepas 6
April 2018 TIDAK akan dilayan.
8. Penarikan
diri atau penukaran peserta dalam kumpulan tanpa alasan yang kukuh TIDAK akan dilayan
dan yuran penyertaan TIDAK akan dipulangkan. Ketidakhadiran atau penarikan
diri salah seorang peserta akan menyebabkan pembatalan penyertaan pasukan
terlibat secara automatik.
9. Para
peserta diwajib mendaftar di kaunter pendaftaran dan menyerahkan Borang
Kebenaran Ibu Bapa semasa pendaftaran selewat-lewatnya 8.45 pagi. Pihak
penganjur berhak untuk membatalkan penyertaan pasukan yang mendaftar selepas
8.45 pagi atau mendaftar TANPA Borang Kebenaran Ibu Bapa.
10. Pihak
penganjur berhak membatalkan penyertaan seseorang peserta dan kumpulannya sekiranya
peserta didapati meniru atau menipu; cuba meniru atau cuba menipu di sepanjang
pertandingan atau membawa masuk sebarang bahan yang tidak diizinkan.
11. Permarkahan bagi Kuiz Matematik adalah
seperti berikut: -
i)
Soalan Objektif sesi pertama – 2
markah diberi untuk setiap jawapan yang betul dan 1 markah ditolak untuk
setiap jawapan yang salah. Tiada markah ditolak/diberi bagi soalan yang tidak
dijawab.
ii)
Soalan Subjektif sesi kedua –
Skema permarkahan setiap soalan meliputi langkah kerja dan jawapan yang betul
dan adalah ditentukan oleh pihak penganjur.
iii) Soalan Subjektif sesi ketiga – Skema
permarkahan meliputi langkah kerja dan jawapan yang betul.
12. Anugerah untuk setiap kategori: -
i) Anugerah untuk 5 Individu Terbaik
daripada Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) - Diberi
kepada 5 peserta yang terbaik dari SMK. Anugerah individu adalah berdasarkan markah
soalan objektif yang dijalankan dalam sesi pertama. Sekiranya terdapat
persamaan markah, pengiraan markah akan berdasarkan 10 soalan objektif
terakhir. Sijil akan diberi kepada kesemua 5 peserta yang terbaik.
ii) Anugerah
untuk 5 Pasukan Terbaik daripada Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) (Hanya untuk
pasukan sekolah)- Diberi
kepada 5 pasukan yang terbaik dari SMK. Anugerah pasukan akan berdasarkan
jumlah markah Sesi Pertama dan Sesi Kedua. Sijil akan diberi kepada kesemua 5
pasukan yang terbaik
iii) Anugerah untuk 5
Individu Terbaik daripada Sekolah Menengah Jenis Kebangsaan
(SMJK) - Diberi kepada 5 peserta yang terbaik dari SMJK. Anugerah individu
adalah berdasarkan markah soalan objektif yang dijalankan dalam sesi pertama. Sekiranya
terdapat persamaan markah, pengiraan markah akan berdasarkan 10 soalan objektif
terakhir. Sijil akan diberi kepada kesemua 5 peserta yang terbaik.
iv) Anugerah
untuk 5 Pasukan Terbaik daripada Sekolah Menengah Jenis Kebangsaan (SMJK) (Hanya
untuk pasukan sekolah)- Diberi
kepada 5 pasukan yang terbaik dari SMJK. Anugerah pasukan akan berdasarkan
jumlah markah Sesi Pertama dan Sesi Kedua. Sijil akan diberi kepada kesemua 5
pasukan yang terbaik
v)
Anugerah Individu Keseluruhan – Diberi
kepada 5 peserta yang terbaik. Anugerah individu keseluruhan adalah berdasarkan
markah soalan objektif yang dijalankan dalam sesi pertama. Sekiranya terdapat
persamaan markah, pengiraan markah akan berdasarkan 10 soalan objektif
terakhir. Hadiah diberi kepada Johan, Naib Johan dan Tempat Ketiga manakala
sijil akan diberi kepada kesemua 5 peserta yang terbaik.
vi) Anugerah Pasukan Keseluruhan - Diberi
kepada 5 pasukan yang terbaik. Anugerah pasukan keseluruhan akan berdasarkan
jumlah markah Sesi Pertama dan Sesi Kedua. Hadiah diberi kepada Johan, Naib
Johan dan Tempat Ketiga manakala sijil akan diberi kepada kesemua 5 pasukan
yang terbaik.
13. Anugerah
Sekolah Terbaik (hanya bagi pasukan sekolah yang hantar pasukan Senior dan
pasukan Junior pada hari kejadian) dinilai berdasarkan jumlah markah sesi
pertama, sesi kedua dan sesi ketiga untuk kedua-dua kategori senior dan junior.
Sekolah yang menang akan dapat membawa balik satu piala pusingan besar untuk
dipamerkan di sekolah selama setahun.
14. Para peserta juga dikehendaki memakai pakaian
seragam sekolah yang kemas. Para peserta dikehendaki membawa sendiri alat tulis
khasnya pensel 2B, kalkulator saintifik tanpa pengaturcaraan dan jacket.
15. Makanan tengah hari yang ringan akan disediakan
untuk setiap peserta dan guru pengiring. Peserta diminta membawa sendiri air
minuman yang mencukupi.
16. Pihak penganjur berhak mengubah atau
mengemaskini sebarang peraturan dan syarat Kuiz Matematik yang dinyatakan di
atas dari semasa ke semasa tanpa memaklumkan sekolah atau peserta.
